Prayers:
All Saints-November 2-Luke 6:20–31
Gracious and merciful God,
You bless the poor, the hungry, the sorrowful, and the persecuted,
promising them Your kingdom, Your comfort, and Your joy.
Grant that we may find our hope not in the riches and pleasures of this world,
but in the riches of Your grace through You.
Teach us to love our enemies, and to pray for those who mistreat us.
Move us to show the same mercy that You have shown to us.
Forgive us, Lord, when we fail to live according to Your Word.
By Your Holy Spirit, renew our hearts,
that we may reflect the love of Christ in our daily lives—
giving freely, forgiving generously.
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever.
Amen.
Pentecost 17-Luke 17:5-10
Heavenly Father,
Like the apostles, we come before You with open hearts and a simple plea:
“Lord, increase our faith.”
Not a faith rooted in our strength or understanding,
but a faith that trusts in You —
even the size of a mustard seed —
knowing that You can do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine.
Teach us, Lord, to serve You with humility.
May we not seek recognition or reward,
but do what is our duty with grateful hearts.
Remind us that we are Your servants,
and everything we have is from Your hand.
Keep us from pride when we obey,
and from despair when we struggle.
Let our obedience be an offering of love,
our service an act of worship.
Strengthen us to walk by faith and not by sight,
to trust You in the small things,
and to remain faithful in all You have given us to do.
When we have done all that is commanded, may we say with peace:
“We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.”
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
Pentecost 6- Luke 10:38-42
Gracious Lord,
During life’s many demands, You call us to sit at Your feet and listen.
Like Martha, we often become anxious and distracted by all we think must be done.
Yet You gently remind us, as You did her, that only one thing is truly needed.
Help us, Lord, to choose the better part.
Give us hearts like Mary’s—attentive, still, and eager to receive Your Word.
Teach us to trust that being with You is not wasted time, but the foundation of all that truly matters.
Calm our restless minds.
Draw us into Your presence daily.
May our service flow from intimacy with You, and not from striving to earn Your love.
Thank You for Your patience when we forget what matters most.
Centre our lives on You, Jesus—our Teacher, our Friend, our Lord.
Amen
Pentecost 5- Luke 10:25-37
Lord Jesus,
You taught us that to love You is to love our neighbour—
not just in word, but in action, with mercy and compassion.
We confess how often we pass by the wounded, the lonely, the forgotten—
preoccupied, judgmental, or afraid.
But You call us to be like the Good Samaritan,
to cross boundaries, to risk comfort, and to extend grace.
Open our eyes to see the needs around us.
Soften our hearts to respond with kindness,
not just to those who look like us or think like us,
but to anyone in need—because every person bears Your image.
Fill us with Your Spirit,
that we may be moved by love and not obligation,
that we may become neighbours in the truest sense:
healers, servants, and peacemakers.
Help us to go and do likewise,
as You commanded—following the example of Your great mercy to us.
Amen.
Year C-Easter 5-John 13:31-35
Lord,
we come before You with grateful hearts, remembering the moment when You spoke of Your glory—not in power or pride, but in humble sacrifice. Thank You for showing us what true love looks like through the cross, where You gave everything for us.
You call us to love one another as You have loved us. We confess that we often fall short—quick to judge, slow to forgive, and reluctant to serve. Help us to see others through Your eyes, with compassion and grace. Teach us to love sacrificially, not just when it’s convenient or easy, but especially when it’s hard.
Make our lives a reflection of Your love. Let our homes, our churches, and our communities be places where Your presence is known because of the way we care for one another. May the world recognize that we are Yours—not by our words alone, but by the way we love.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Year C-Easter 7-John 17:20–26
Dear God,
Thank You for Jesus, who prayed for all of us to be one. Help us to love each other and stay united, just like You and Jesus are one.
Let our love show the world that Jesus came from You. Help us live in a way that brings others closer to You.
Thank You for loving us.
Stay close to us, and help us stay close to You.
Let Your love fill our hearts so we can share it with others every day.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
