Prayers Prompters and Thoughts for “An Hour of Prayer, Your Time, Your Space” Sat 11th Oct 2025
These points are not prescriptive, nor exhaustive:
We can have full confidence that God is accomplishing His Purposes, His way, in our lives, individually and collectively,
whatever that might mean and look like. [1] Jer 29:11
The following are prayers many of us have been praying for some time:
• We acknowledge that all of us fall short of God’s Glory every single day. It’s only by the Grace of God through
the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ that we can come into His Presence at all!
• We pray that God would continue to stir up a real hunger for Himself and the Truth of His Word in the hearts of
all people, bringing them to Himself, taking us to them by whatever means He chooses to use.
• That hearts which have been ploughed deeply would be open to God’s word wherever it’s heard,
• That all ministers and lay readers across this wide brown land and to the four corners of the earth in every tribe
and nation would be inspired by the Holy Spirit with every word God knows we need to hear.
• That each of us understands in our hearts that in every worship service, lay reading or preaching, we’re having
an audience with our Sovereign Lord God Almighty High King of Heaven.
• That each of us would take seriously our responsibility to pray for our Pastors and all leadership: that we would
be their “Aaron and Hur” Exodus 17:8-16, prayerfully holding up their leadership arms in the spiritual battle that
we are in.
• That God would continue to bring people from the highways and byways of wherever we live, here in Australia,
NZ and the World, and that He would take us to them in our local neighborhoods, that we would go willingly.
• That we would be fair, just and merciful, and walk humbly with our God.
• That each of us, as part of the priesthood of all believers, would seek God’s face anew every day, in repentance,
asking for a fresh anointing and infilling of His Holy Spirit: Come Holy Spirit, You are Welcome here!
• That we surrender our will to Jesus for His Spirit to lead us, and God’s will be done on earth as it is in Heaven,
whatever that might mean and look like. Matt 6:10; Phil 2:13; Rom 8: 5-9.
• We bless the priesthood of all believers that we call the LCANZ in its current entities, in Jesus Name. We come
against division, contention and strife, [Eph 4:31, 32] and we release justice, fairness and reconciliation. As we
bless this priesthood of all believers, we put aside our own thoughts and desires and we release God to activate
His purposes in us, individually and collectively, In Jesus Name, Amen [1a]
• Forgiveness frees us to go forward, while bitterness tethers us to the past. Be first in Line to Forgive. Forgive one
another, just as God has forgiven you because you are in Christ. Col 3:13[Our Daily Bread Video Devotional]
• We pray that God would continue to accomplish his Purposes, His way, at this time, His way, not our way.
• That all of us have an ongoing, conscious awareness that we’re in the presence of our Sovereign Lord God
Almighty, High King of Heaven: that He is the unseen listener to every conversation, both in our self talk and
with others.
• That all would be aware of the “cloud of witnesses…. That we run the race set before us with
perseverance…fixing our eyes on Jesus” Heb 11: 17- 12:1-2 remembering “The Angel of the Lord encamps
around those who love and fear Him, and delivers them” Ps 34: 7-9. In Jesus Name, Amen
• In the Name of God, The Father, God, The Son, and God, The Holy Spirit, we bless the hearts of the entire
priesthood of all believers that we call the LCANZ in its current entities. We bless each one to be open to the
wooing of the Holy Spirit and to become more and more responsive to God’s voice. We bless them with the
overspill of the Kingdom of Heaven, that they would experience and exhibit the fruit of the Holy Spirit: his love,
joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, long suffering, faithfulness, self-control, His words, wisdom, sensitivity,
clarity, compassion, insight and His mind. In Jesus Name, Amen. [2]
3
• That each of us in this priesthood of all believers would exhibit filial love, respect, kindness, generosity and
compassion toward one another. [3.]
• That we would choose to see one another through Jesus’ eyes, lens, and hear one another through His ears.
• That each of us would daily spend time in Worship, Praise and Thanksgiving, followed by prayer, in both the lead
up to, during and post, on line Pastor’s Conference 15th Oct and Synod 18th Oct 2025, singing hymns and songs,
for not only does the Lord inhabit the Praises of His people, but singing is spiritual warfare (2 Chron 20: 1- 24)
and keeps our eyes, hearts and minds on The Lord Jesus.
• We Bless you, the Lutheran Church of Australia and New Zealand, in all your entities, in the Name of The Father,
The Son and The Holy Spirit. We bless you in our States, Territories and New Zealand. We Bless you in your
worship life, in your congregations, we bless you in the offices of the various Ministries, Bishops, Pastors and
SMP’s. We Bless you in the homes of individual congregational members, across Australia and New Zealand. We
Bless you in the capital cities and in the regions. We release the Kingdom of God in all these places. Come Holy
Spirit, You are welcome in all these places! We release love and joy and peace and patience and kindness and
goodness and gentleness and faithfulness and self-control and unity into all of these spaces. In the Name of
Jesus, we release ideas from our Heavenly Father’s Throne Room to help every individual in this priesthood of all
believers in their walk with our Lord Jesus Christ. We release favor in all our congregations in their mission and
ministry, in their Sunday schools, Youth groups, Bible Studies, and outreach into their neighborhoods, In Jesus
Name Amen [4.]

Prayers:
Pentecost 17-Luke 17:5-10
Heavenly Father,
Like the apostles, we come before You with open hearts and a simple plea:
“Lord, increase our faith.”
Not a faith rooted in our strength or understanding,
but a faith that trusts in You —
even the size of a mustard seed —
knowing that You can do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine.
Teach us, Lord, to serve You with humility.
May we not seek recognition or reward,
but do what is our duty with grateful hearts.
Remind us that we are Your servants,
and everything we have is from Your hand.
Keep us from pride when we obey,
and from despair when we struggle.
Let our obedience be an offering of love,
our service an act of worship.
Strengthen us to walk by faith and not by sight,
to trust You in the small things,
and to remain faithful in all You have given us to do.
When we have done all that is commanded, may we say with peace:
“We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.”
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
Pentecost 6- Luke 10:38-42
Gracious Lord,
During life’s many demands, You call us to sit at Your feet and listen.
Like Martha, we often become anxious and distracted by all we think must be done.
Yet You gently remind us, as You did her, that only one thing is truly needed.
Help us, Lord, to choose the better part.
Give us hearts like Mary’s—attentive, still, and eager to receive Your Word.
Teach us to trust that being with You is not wasted time, but the foundation of all that truly matters.
Calm our restless minds.
Draw us into Your presence daily.
May our service flow from intimacy with You, and not from striving to earn Your love.
Thank You for Your patience when we forget what matters most.
Centre our lives on You, Jesus—our Teacher, our Friend, our Lord.
Amen
Pentecost 5- Luke 10:25-37
Lord Jesus,
You taught us that to love You is to love our neighbour—
not just in word, but in action, with mercy and compassion.
We confess how often we pass by the wounded, the lonely, the forgotten—
preoccupied, judgmental, or afraid.
But You call us to be like the Good Samaritan,
to cross boundaries, to risk comfort, and to extend grace.
Open our eyes to see the needs around us.
Soften our hearts to respond with kindness,
not just to those who look like us or think like us,
but to anyone in need—because every person bears Your image.
Fill us with Your Spirit,
that we may be moved by love and not obligation,
that we may become neighbours in the truest sense:
healers, servants, and peacemakers.
Help us to go and do likewise,
as You commanded—following the example of Your great mercy to us.
Amen.
Year C-Easter 5-John 13:31-35
Lord,
we come before You with grateful hearts, remembering the moment when You spoke of Your glory—not in power or pride, but in humble sacrifice. Thank You for showing us what true love looks like through the cross, where You gave everything for us.
You call us to love one another as You have loved us. We confess that we often fall short—quick to judge, slow to forgive, and reluctant to serve. Help us to see others through Your eyes, with compassion and grace. Teach us to love sacrificially, not just when it’s convenient or easy, but especially when it’s hard.
Make our lives a reflection of Your love. Let our homes, our churches, and our communities be places where Your presence is known because of the way we care for one another. May the world recognize that we are Yours—not by our words alone, but by the way we love.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Year C-Easter 7-John 17:20–26
Dear God,
Thank You for Jesus, who prayed for all of us to be one. Help us to love each other and stay united, just like You and Jesus are one.
Let our love show the world that Jesus came from You. Help us live in a way that brings others closer to You.
Thank You for loving us.
Stay close to us, and help us stay close to You.
Let Your love fill our hearts so we can share it with others every day.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
